Line – Drawings by Andy & Guido
2 – 20 September 2009
Opening preview: Wednesday 2 September 5.30 – 7.30pm
Exhibition Statement:
After some years of creating digital artwork on the computer Andy Shaw and Guido Anton have returned to their creative roots to pick up their pencils and put line to paper. ‘Line’ is Andy and Guido’s first exhibition with traditional materials. Drawing from observation and the imagination. Both artists have a shared love for art and the natural world. Inspired by life and nature, Andy and Guido enjoy putting time into developing their craft of image making.
Artist Biography – Guido Anton:
Guido has a working background in all things digital media but is currently married to his personal art endeavours. His visual style is constantly developing as an expression of his life’s narrative – the people, situations, moments and dreams which unfold as his reality. Guido loves illustration as both a means of communication and as a playground for the imagination. He does not believe everything has to be spelt out for the viewer. The narrative can be what you make of it. Guido enjoys setting the scene, and leaving the viewer to experience their own moment for what ever it is, for whatever they may take from it.
Artist Biography – Andy Shaw:
Andy has spent the last 6 years as a freelance designer. In that time he’s put his hand to: storyboards for film & television; animations; 3d architectural renderings; graphic design and digital illustration. For Andy this exhibition represents an exploration of two ideas:
- “Long exposure” drawings that capture people in his life;
- Imaginative illustrations about creation & destruction.
